OpenLift 0.2.4: Smarter Reports, Sharing, and Balanced Progress
OpenLift 0.2.4 is all about turning training into clear feedback loops. We focused on the moment after you finish a session, the accuracy of the data you log during it, and the foundations that help us ship faster and safer in the future.
You will see the biggest difference in the post-workout experience: more insight, more clarity, and better context for how you are progressing. At the same time, we tightened the engine behind the scenes with better progression stability, safer rollouts, and the infrastructure needed for localization and reliable emails.
What is new in 0.2.4
Post-workout report endpoints
Your workout should not end when you tap "finish." The new post-workout report endpoints generate a clean summary of what you accomplished: your strongest exercise of the day, any new personal records, total volume, and a clear read on how the session actually went. It is the kind of recap you would get from a coach who knows your training history.
Bodyweight-aware loading
Bodyweight exercises now log the way athletes actually train them. During a workout session, OpenLift will tell you how to log the movement. If it is a bodyweight lift, you only enter the additional load you used (weighted vest, dumbbell, plates, etc). We automatically use your latest logged bodyweight and combine it with the extra load so your volume and intensity stay correct.
Example: if your last logged bodyweight is 60 kg and you log 0 kg x 12, the finished workout will count 60 kg x 12. If you log 10 kg x 12, we record 70 kg x 12. No extra math, no confusion.
SMTP email delivery
We added a simple SMTP integration so OpenLift can send essential emails reliably. This covers the basics like password resets and account confirmations today, and it gives us the foundation for better notifications tomorrow.
Lightweight usage analytics
To build the right features next, we need a clear picture of how OpenLift is being used. We now send a lightweight, privacy-aware snapshot to our server with data like server version, total users, total workouts, and which major features are enabled. This is not about content; it is about visibility so we can make better decisions for the community.
Public workouts and sharing (Cloud only)
Want to show a friend your best session or share a training log with your coach? Public workouts make that easy. You can now generate a shareable link that surfaces your workout and results in a clean, readable way. This feature is currently available on OpenLift Cloud.
Localization for plans and templates
OpenLift is growing beyond one language. We added translation support for Program Plans, Workout Templates, and Progression Playbooks so that adding new languages is finally straightforward. This is a foundational change that opens the door to a more global OpenLift.
Feature flag framework
Shipping fast should never mean shipping risky. We introduced a basic feature-flag system so we can roll out changes safely, turn new functionality on or off as needed, and reduce surprises for athletes and coaches.
Progression playbook refinements
Progression Playbooks are at the heart of OpenLift. This release improves the stability of the engine so rules run more predictably and recommendations stay consistent session to session. The goal is the same as always: you define the rules, and OpenLift does the heavy lifting.
Strength balance analytics
We introduced strength balance metrics that compare performance across key zones of the body, including upper vs lower. The result is a clearer view of how balanced your training is and where you might be falling behind. This is as much about prevention as performance: spot imbalances early and keep your body moving well for the long haul.
What this means for you
With 0.2.4, OpenLift gives you better answers after every workout, more accurate numbers while you train, and a platform that can evolve faster without breaking trust. Whether you are chasing personal records, building balanced strength, or coaching athletes at scale, these changes are designed to make every session clearer and more confident.
